Mini Hat Ornament exchange

In Lynn Markman's Yahoo group, they had a mini hat ornament exchange. It was a bunch of fun being a part of it. From day to day you didn't know just what kind of hat would be in that envelope. Here are two pictures of the little tree I like to call Charlie, with all of the mini hat ornaments on it. THANK YOU to everyone for helping make such a cute cute Christmas tree! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Go COLTS!

I've been talking about the COLTS, some COLTS coasters I was sent in an exchange, and a pep rally I went to Monday this week. What a ton of fun pep rallies are. There was another pep rally Gordie and I went to last year where we got our picture with some really cool looking fans. Gotta love the "Matt Foley" guy. It's amazing how much he looks like that Chris Farley character. GO COLTS!!!

Ellie's sock

I was playing around the other night and made this really cute little sock for our dog Ellie. I made it on the Knifty Knitter Flower Loom using Lion Brand Thick and Quick yarn, and stuffed it with cut up old socks.

SHE LOVES IT!

Snowman Ornament

I've made a couple of these Snowman Ornaments. They are fun to make, and fast too! These guys make great ornaments for the tree, or even gift tags for someone special. You can find the pattern HERE.

Crocheted dishcloth

I remembered about my most favorite crocheted dishcloth from a couple of years ago...I found my pattern...and BOOM. That's what I've been doing this week. It's an easy and fast one to crochet. This cloth is nice and thick. I used a H hook and some SugarNCream cotton. Chain 29. ROW 1: single crochet in the 3rd chain from hook, chain 1, single crochet in 2nd chain. Repeat to end of chain, ending with single crochet in last chain. Chain 2 and turn. ROW 2: Single crochet in chain 1 space...chain 1, single crochet in next chain 1 space....repeat to end, ending with single crochet in chain 2 space... chain 2 and turn. REPEAT row 2 25 more times. Crochet a chain with 10. Slip stitch to attach chain to cloth. Weave in yarn ends. This makes a nice thick cloth.

ENJOY!!!

Christmas hat ornaments

These little cuties are quick to make from start to finish. All were done using a small gauge newborn baby booty loom.

RED HAT: (regular cuff) With one strand of Red Heart holiday yarn in the color of red... cast on and knit 10 rows single knit (1 over 1), turn it up for a cuff like you do with any larger hat, single knit 10 more rows and bind off with the gathering method. Be sure to leave a longer tail when removing from the yarn. With this "tail" you can add a little loop at the to of the hat for hanging.

RED/GREEN HAT: (purled cuff) With one strand of multi color yarn cast on and knit one row; purl 5 rows, knit 10 more rows and remove with the gathering method; add a loop at top for hanging.

GREEN/WHITE HAT: (rolled cuff) Cast on with white yarn and knit 6 rows, switch to green and knit 10 rows; remove with the gathering method. The beginning white will roll up and make a cute "cuff". Don't forget the loop.

RED/WHITE brim GREEN hat: This one was done by casting on and doing one row in white. Then add in the red yarn and wrap the odd number pegs with red, the even with white. Do this for 6 rows, and turn up for the cuff. Snip yarn, and knit 10 rows with green. Remove with the gathering method, add your loop, weave in yarn ends. I like doing the little hat with a "cuff" because it makes it easier to hide your yarn ends (IMO).

Dress these cuties up by changing the color of your yarn, add a little pompom to the top, or even hang a little bell from the inside.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Pumpkin Dishcloth

In the spirit of Halloween, here is a Pumpkin dishcloth that I made. This was done on a 12" double knitting board. With green, cast on the middle 6 pegs (6 on each side, 12 pegs total) and knit (single knit/1 over 1) 6 rows. Snip the green yarn, and with orange cast on 20 pegs (20 each side, 40 total) being sure to center the green. Knit off the 6 pegs with green and orange on them, and wrap the 20 pegs again. Knit 8 rows with orange. Then with black yarn, wrap pegs 5,6,7 & 8 (both sides) ...as well as 13,14,15 & 16 (both sides). Then wrap remaining pegs in orange, knit off. Do this a total of 4 rows. Snip black yarn, and knit another 5 rows with just orange. With black wrap pegs 9,10,11 & 12 (both sides), wrap remaing pegs with orange. Knit a total of 3 rows, snip black yarn. Knit 5 more rows with just orange, and bind off..weave in yarn ends...and WAAAA LA. A PUMPKIN DISHCLOTH! This cloth came out a nice smaller size, and makes a great cloth for a Halloween centerpiece on the dining room table. You could easily make it bigger by adding a few rows here and there, or adapt it to a dishcloth rake for a thinner one sided cloth.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Baby Hats

Today I made two baby hats. The pink one is crocheted, and the blue is loom knit on the blue Knifty Knitter loom. They are getting sent to a woman on Lynn Markmans Yahoo group who is collecting them to be sent to a hospital near her. I thought it would be a nice change from all the dishcloths being made lately. LOL I LOVE making dishcloths. I also ordered a new fine gauge rake from Lynn Markmans knitting loom site. I be excited about that!

Pumpkin Surprise

I recieved the cutest surprise in the mail yesterday. A lovely "pumpkin surprise" from Nancy G. in the
Addicted to Knit Dishcloths Yahoo group. She wanted to send me a belated birthday surprise. Is that not the sweetest thing?!??!? Here's a picture of my surprise. I think it will go right in the center of the dining room table as part of a Halloween centerpiece. THANK YOU Nancy for being so thoughtful.

Turkey Dishcloth

Today I also finished up a Turkey Dishcloth (needle knit). It came out really cute. What do you think? Not sure if this is the cloth I will use for a Thanksgiving cloth exchange or not. Right now I'm testing a few patterns, and will pick the favorite one. I was reminded how much of a novice needle knitter I am when looking up in a "how to" book...how to do yarn overs and knit togethers. We all need little reminders now and then. LOL You can find the pattern for this Turkey Dishcloth at here.

Watering Can cloth pic

Here is a picture of the watering can cloth I just finished up. It's a loom knit version of a needle knit pattern. You can view the loom knit pattern, and see a link to the needle knit original by scrolling down, or click on the Watering Can cloth link under "Free Patterns" to the right side of my blog. HAPPY LOOMING those dishcloths!!!

Spider Dishcloth

OOOOO SPOOKY SPIDER!!! I just finished a spider dishcloth for a Halloween cloth exchange. I purchased the pattern at http://www.knitalittle.com/ . Even though it was a simple knit/purl designed pattern, I still had a little difficulty with it....as you can see by the "customization" at the top of the cloth. LOL This is definately a cloth I will try to do again, and leave off the "customization" part. What do you think of this cloth?

reversable coasters

WOW, I haven't needle knit something in a very looooong time. When I did these little coasters it was down right awkward at first. Now I am anxious to keep needle knitting so I can get better at it. So much crafting, so little time! But seriously, what do you think of the coasters??? The pattern for them can be found here.

Things I'm working on

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, so I thought it was time to post an update on what I've been working on in the crafty world. I have a dishcloth on a rake, and I've been working on a set of coasters with needles. It's been a while since I've needle knit, so it's slow going. The hope is to have them done tomorrow. I still have a couple blankets on "s" style looms as well. Those will get worked on more when the weather is colder. That's about it for right now. I'll post a picture of the coasters, and the cloth, when they get done ...so check back soon.

Stitch Markers

The other day on a knitting dishcloths group ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/addictedtoknitdishcloths_group ) someone posted about making their own stitch markers. Here is my first attempt at one following the directions that are posted here. They will get better the more I do.

NEW TOYS

The other day I went in to JoAnn's with my coupons, and came out with two new toys! The best part is I only spent $5!

The first one is a Knifty Knitter Straw Weaver set. It's an interesting little gadget. Basically you thread yarn through the straws, then weave yarn over the straws. Slide the straws out, tie off some ends, and wa la. I made this little bookmark for fun. I honestly don't know how much I will use this, but it is kind of fun.

The second "TOY" is the smallest of the new Knifty Knitter Long Loom series, the pink loom. For a play with the loom project I am making a purse with round bamboo handles, using Lion Brand Thick and Quick yarn. I'll post the picture when it's done. So far I like this little loom. It will come in handy.

8/20 Here is the purse I made on the little KK2 loom. I think it will get used for something such as a bag to hold clothes pins, or even those plastic bags you get at the grocery.

Summer Sun dishcloth

We got back from our trip to Chicago yesterday, so today is a lazy relax catch up on laundry kind of day. I finished up my Summer Sun dishcloth finally. It's been done for a week, but I haven't taken the time to get it off the loom. It came out really cute. What do you think? It's my first original loomed dishcloth. The pattern is posted in the file section of the YAHOO group LoomingDishcloths. Anyone is welcome to join.

The County Fair

This week was our local county fair. What fun we had. It's at the new fair grounds. The weather was nice, and the rides were fun. Frazier and I both entered 2 things in the Homemakers Extension Club Art Show.

Frazier won not only a FIRST PLACE blue ribbon, but the big purple GRAND CHAMPION ribbon for this self portrait he drew. The picture was a combo drawing/painting. He also won a third place for this wooden plane he made out of some scrap wood. We are so very proud of him!!!

I won a blue ribbon for my crocheted dishcloth dress, and for the loom knit Swan Dishcloth.

WHAT A SUCCESSFUL ART FAIR!!!

My First Original Dishcloth Design

O/k it was decided.....my next project is creating my own original dishcloth design. I spent a day charting and writing it out. Started looming it last night, and hope to have it done later today. A lot of time and effort went in to creating this original design, so I'm excited to see how this turns out.

looking for a new idea

I was surfing some of the looming blogs and saw where Lisa has already done the Watering Can cloth. You can see it on Lisa's blog. I didn't realize someone had already done this one....so now I'm looking for a new idea. I'm glad the looming hadn't started on this project yet, but I did already have it written out...it will just go in the "file". LOL Now what to do what to do. I'm off to surf some knitting patterns now. Who knows, maybe I will write my own pattern.

my next project

My next project will be converting a needle knit pattern to a loomed pattern for the first time. I've got it all written out now. Next it's testing it. I'm anxious to see how it works out. When I know...you'll know. ;-)

PawPrint dishcloth

Today I did the PawPrint cloth. It's a needle knit cloth done by Rhonda White that was converted to a loom pattern by Linda P.. I had fun doing this cloth. It's a pretty simple pattern to follow. I would definately recomend anyone of any skill level try this cloth.

looming withdrawl

I have looming WiThDrAwL! Things have been a bit busy the last few days, and I haven't had the liesure time to sit and loom. Tonight hopefully that will change. The plan is to sit and relax, and work on a Paw Print dishcloth. You know you are addicted to looming, or whatever craft, when you've been away from it for a couple of days, and you get really anxious to get back to it.

I NEEDS ME SOME LOOMIN! :-)

Swan Dishcloth

I finished my first dishcloth on the new rake. It's a swan cloth! Cat converted the needle knit pattern to a loom knit pattern. The needle knit pattern can be found on Melissa's webiste. The loom knit conversion pattern can be found in the file section of my YAHOO group Looming Dishcloths. THANK YOU Cat for translating patterns, and sharing them with us all! I had a lot of fun working with my new rake...which can be found on Cathy's blog. Now to decide what cloth to try next. I'd like to do a couple of patterns by other people to get the hang of looming cloths, then try to create my own one day soon. This picture is a scan of my finished cloth.

My new dishcloth rake is here!!!

YIPPEEEE YAHOOO my new dishcloth rake is here. I can't wait to play this afternoon. It's a very nice looking rake. Love the nylon pegs. I ordered it from Loomin Cat's Haven. Her hubby makes them. Nice work Mr. Cat!

dishcloth dress

I finished the dishcloth dress that I was crocheting. It came out really cute. Wouldn't it be great to create something similar on a loom??? The crochet pattern is from dishbout. I will try to create one on a loom sometime really soon.

getting excited

I'm getting excited about the new dishcloth rake I ordered. It's been 3 days. Patience is not my best virtue! LOL I am wanting to do a dishcloth so much so that I can't wait for the rake. I started crocheting a dishcloth dress to keep me in the dishcloth mode. I also started a dishcloth group called Looming Dishcloths on Yahoo. So far the group is growing fast. I look forward to making many dishcloths, and creating some unique patterns.

The first entry

Hey everyone. I decided with so many blogs out there by crafters that it was about time I had one myself. So here it is. I have crocheted for 2o+ years, loom knitted for several years, needle knit for about 2 years now, and last year learned to double crochet. Most anything crafty works for me. On this blog I will post projects that I am working on, share pictures, and create patterns.

Right now my project list includes two afghans that are both about a 1/4 done, and both on different "S" style looms. My project "to do" list includes ordering a dishcloth rake, and creating some dishcloths. I would also like to try a triangle shawl.

I'll keep you posted. HAPPY CRAFTING everyone!
